The eSAD+VRE-SDM project, part of the Engage initiative supported by OMII-UK and the NGS, has now ended.

Within four months, we were able to develop an image processing portal, offering the latest eSAD algorithms as a web-service through the VRE-SDM framework.

The outcomes of the project include:  a web-based application, a proof of concept for the usability of the VRE-SDM platform, an opportunity for wider dissemination for the eSAD algorithms, and a proof of feasibility for the use of the NGS for Humanities applications.

The final report of this side-project is available for download here

This project also provided us with the necessary knowledge to integrate in the future new image processing algorithms as a web-service accessible through the portal. One current focus of our research in the on-going eSAD project is the development of advanced feature detection algorithms, to support papyrologists in their script detection task.
